Frequently asked questions

How should I book classes/sessions?

For all bookings and enquiries please email us on info@lowestoftstudioceramics.co.uk and we can send you any information and relevent payment links.

What should I wear?

You should wear comfortable clothes which you don't mind getting a bit of clay on! Layers can be a good idea as temperatures can be a bit variable in the studio. All students should wear comfortable, non-slip, flat soled shoes with covered toes. Long hair should be tied back for wheel work.

We also recommend that jewellery, watches and other valuables are left at home.

Do I need to bring any tools?

You will not need to bring any tools as we have everything you need at the studio.

You are, however, welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer to use them.

Will I be able to take my work home on the day?

All work must be bisque fired and glazed so it will not be possible to take your work home on the same day. Your work will be ready for collection in 2 to 3 weeks.

We are limited for space and we are only able to keep work for 2 months after we have notified you that it is ready for collection.

Will we be provided with refreshments?

Yes, all of our sessions/classes include a tea break with a selection of tea, coffee or cold drinks.

Please notify us of any dietary requirements prior to your session.

Is there free parking?

Yes, there is some parking available outside the studio but there is also a free car park in nearby Mariners Street.

Do you offer drop-in sessions?

We are not able to offer drop-in sessions as we run termly classes most days and do not have the studio capacity to offer this.

Can children attend?

Children aged 13 years and over are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult.

Do you offer 'paint a pot' sessions?

No, we are a pottery studio that offers the experience of making and glazing your own handmade pots.

Are there any additional charges?

Everything is included in the price and there is no extra costs involved to fire your work except for the following-

for our ongoing classes your first pot/item is fired free of charge, subsequent items have a small fee dependent upon size/weight,

for wheel throwing the first pot/item is fired free of charge, subsequent items have a fee of £5 per item.
